Can Vulcan provide an AIS approved low carbon all thread rod?

Yes.  Vulcan, upon request, can provide low carbon threaded rod that is 100% melted and manufactured in the US as required by AIS (American Iron and Steel).

Can Vulcan provide Buy America or Buy American Low Carbon all thread rod?

Yes.  Vulcan, upon request, will provide low carbon threaded rod that is 100% melted and manufactured in the US as required by both acts.

Does our 316 SS certify to 316L?

Our 316 SS (B8M) Stainless Steel all thread rod cross certifies to 316L and is 100% Domestic.

What is the difference between A36 and F1554-36?

ASTM A36 is a material specification for carbon structural steel. ASTM  F1554-36 is fastener specification.  The two most common fastener specifications for carbon steel threaded rod are ASTM A307A and ASTM F1554-36.  Both require that the threaded rod or stud meet the minimum tensile requirements of A36.  Each specification may require additional testing.  Please refer to each specification for specific requirements.

What is the difference between 316 SS and B8M?

B8M is required to be carbide solution treated and tested to meet the stringent chemical and mechanical requirements as outlined in ASTM A193 for use in high temperature and high pressure service produces B8M.

What is the difference between A193 B8 (A193 B8M) and A320 Grade B8 (B8M)?

None.  They are identical and Vulcan can supply both products.   Note:  A193 B8 / B8M are for high temperatures and pressures and A320 are for cold applications

Can you ship to me anywhere in North America?

Yes, Vulcan Steel ships coast to coast and into Canada and Mexico as well.

What is the difference between cold drawn bars and cold finish bars?

Cold Finished steel bars provide close dimensional tolerances, consistent straightness, excellent surface finish and improved surface quality.  Cold Drawing is the predominant form of Cold Finishing, which can improve yield and tensile strength and hardness properties offering consistency over those of a typical hot rolled bar.  Vulcan Steel offers both Cold Drawn bars in Rounds, Flats, Squares and Hex.  We also offer Cold Finished rounds that are turned and polished above 4” rounds, and we offer Cold Finished in larger flats.
